Description of UL NOVEC1230 Fire Suppression System
FK-5-1-12 is a clean, safe fire fighting agent for use in total flooding automatic extinguishing systems. It is intended as a long term replacement for Halons, HFCs, and HCFCs, whilst maintaining the excellent fire suppression properties of them, has none of the environmental problems. Storage and distribution requirements are similar to Halon and the majority of system components are identical. However, FK-5-1-12 is not a direct replacement for existing Halon 1301, HFCs and HCFCs installations due to the difference in agent quantity and discharge characteristics. The minimum FK-5-1-12 design concentration for Class A hazard is 4.5%, for Class B hazard is 5.85%, and for Class C hazard is 4.5%.

1.The low concentration of FK-5-1-12 required means less visual obscurity and minimal risk to personnel.
2.Maximum safety for personnel due to low toxicity.
3.Most effective when used with automatic detection to introduce FK-5-1-12 rapidly.
4.The ability to prevent re-ignition as long as concentration levels are maintained.
5.Colorless, with low odor with no particulate or oily residue allowing for minimal business disruption after a discharge.
6.Space saving, quantity of FK-5-1-12 fluid needed to suppress fires typically required minimal cylinders, thus minimal space required.
